- Nearly 40% of card failures stem from issues like mistyped details or simply not having the card handy
- This integration lets shoppers pay with saved CRED cards, even on a new website or app using Razorpay checkout
INDIA, Bengaluru – 5 August 2025: Razorpay, India’s Leading Full-Stack Payments and Banking Platform for Businesses, today announced the launch of ‘Card Sync’, in partnership with CRED – a simple new way for shoppers to pay faster and more securely online. Built on Visa’s tokenization infrastructure, Card Sync is an ecosystem-wide saved card solution that allows shoppers to link their saved CRED credit cards to any online store using Razorpay Checkout with just one tap. Once linked, shoppers don’t have to enter their card details or CVV again for future payments. This means no more typing, no more errors, and no more delays.
This is a first-of-its-kind integration in India that allows saved cards from a trusted platform like CRED to be used smoothly across businesses, platforms, and transactions. The integration is backed by VISA’s secure tokenization framework, ensuring a trusted payment experience while helping businesses reduce friction and improve conversion at checkout.
Why is this exciting? Because online shopping can be frustrating when you have to enter your card details every time. Many shoppers stop buying because it’s too much hassle, or they worry about security. According to Razorpay data, only 40% of users complete the tokenization process, and nearly 40% of card payment failures occur due to issues like expired cards, incorrect entry, OTP timeouts, or simply not having the card handy at the moment of checkout.
Despite rising digital adoption, card abandonment rates remain high, particularly among users new to the internet economy or wary of saving their card details on unfamiliar checkout pages. And for emerging brands, this friction translates into real revenue loss, as potential customers drop off mid-purchase, not due to lack of intent, but due to a poor, insecure, or time-consuming checkout experience.
Card Sync solves this by making checkout fast, easy, and secure. For businesses, this means lower drop-offs, higher success rates, and improved retention, especially for high-value purchases. For online shoppers, it’s a convenient, one-tap checkout experience that feels invisible, yet secure.
Commenting on the launch, Khilan Haria, CPO, Razorpay, said, “The next phase of digital payments is not just about enabling transactions, it’s about making them invisible. Tokenization has long promised safer, seamless payments; however, its adoption has lagged due to checkout friction and low user trust in saving card details on merchant sites. With Card Sync, we’ve removed that friction completely. By allowing trusted, saved cards from platforms like CRED to work across the entire Razorpay ecosystem, we’re setting a new standard for how easy and interoperable card payments can be. Backed by VISA’s secure rails, this collaboration marks a major step toward truly frictionless commerce in India. Early results have shown a 3x higher usage of saved cards and improved retention, and we believe this is the kind of infrastructure shift that will quietly reshape how India pays.”
Commenting on the partnership, Akshay Aedula, Product and Growth, CRED, said, “The creditworthy expect frictionless experiences everywhere, not just on the CRED app. We’re excited to collaborate with Razorpay and Visa to bring that to thousands of long-tail merchants. CardSync removes the friction and risk of repeatedly entering card details, enabling secure checkouts as delightful as the shopping experience.”
“At Visa, we view tokenisation as a transformative force in digital payments, one that delivers both enhanced security and seamless user experiences at scale. This collaboration with Razorpay and CRED brings this vision to life, empowering cardholders to transact confidently and efficiently across a wide merchant ecosystem. By combining innovation, trust, and reach, we’re helping shift tokenization from a regulatory requirement to a powerful enabler of frictionless commerce in India,” said Ramakrishnan Gopalan, Head of Product, Visa, India and South Asia.
Razorpay was one of the first in India to adopt card tokenization early, helping merchants comply smoothly without disrupting the user experience. Card Sync takes this further by allowing saved cards from trusted third parties to be used seamlessly across different merchants and platforms. As digital commerce grows, easy and secure payments are more important than ever, especially for high-value transactions where friction still causes many drop-offs. Card Sync aims to solve this and boost conversions.
