- Razorpay now holds all three key foundational RBI authorisations – online, offline, and cross-border – making it one of the few companies licensed to operate end-to-end across India’s payments landscape.
INDIA, Bengaluru – 22 January 2026: Razorpay POS, the offline payments arm of the fintech major, today announced that it has secured the Payment Aggregator – Physical (PA-P) License from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The approval marks a significant milestone in Razorpay’s regulatory journey.
With this authorisation, Razorpay POS endeavours to position itself as one of India’s trusted payment infrastructures. The license adds critical regulatory depth to Razorpay POS’s stack, enabling it to support high-volume, in-store payments for businesses across sectors, from large retail chains and enterprises to fast-growing SMEs. Already operating at a significant scale, Razorpay POS is trusted by leading brands across India’s physical commerce ecosystem.
Commenting on the milestone, Shashank Kumar, MD & Co-founder, Razorpay, said, “In-store commerce continues to power a large part of India’s economy, and building payment infrastructure for it begins with trust and regulatory alignment. For us, regulation isn’t an afterthought; it’s core to how we build. Securing the RBI’s Offline Payment Aggregator License further strengthens our ability to support businesses with scalable, compliant in-store payments as they expand their omnichannel presence. This milestone reflects our long-term commitment to building a single, reliable payments backbone that works seamlessly across online and in-store commerce.”
As India sees a rapid expansion of omnichannel commerce, driven by D2C brands, retail, and enterprise players, the demand for a unified and compliant payments backbone continues to grow. With the PA-P (Payment Aggregator – Physical) license, Razorpay now holds all three key RBI authorisations for payments, online, offline, and cross-border (secured in December 2025), making it one of the few players in the ecosystem to do so and among the early recipients of the payment aggregator licence from the RBI in December 2023. By combining regulatory depth with scalable infrastructure, Razorpay is uniquely positioned to support Indian businesses across every stage of their growth, both online and offline.
