For the longest time, the weekend was sacred—a time to step away from work, step out with friends, indulge in some shopping, or take a short trip. But today, things look different. The strict divide between ‘weekday’ and ‘weekend’ has faded, making every day an opportunity to live, shop, and celebrate.

Whether it’s a celebratory dinner on a Monday, a midweek staycation, or an impromptu shopping spree on a Thursday afternoon, India is embracing the ‘weekend spirit’ all week long.

We analyzed millions of weekday in-store transactions across Razorpay POS touchpoints in India between April 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025. The findings of the 1st edition of the Razorpay POS Annual Payments Report titled ‘Every Day’s A Weekend’ reveal that India is no longer reserving indulgence for the weekends—here’s a glimpse of what we found.

Dining Out? Any Day Will Do!

Life’s moments—big or small—call for celebration, no matter the day. Restaurants and cafes saw a significant rise in weekday transactions.

Whether it’s grabbing a coffee to shake off the Monday blues or dining out to celebrate a work win on a Wednesday, Indians are making every meal count.

Retail Therapy Knows No Schedule

No longer is shopping a weekend activity. Whether it’s a fashion refresh, a new book, or something for the home, more people are stepping into stores on weekdays.

Slowing Down, One Weekday at a Time

Amid all the hustle, people are also making time for quieter joys. From browsing bookstores to picking up plants for their home gardens, weekday indulgences are on the rise.

It’s not just about unwinding—it’s about finding joy in the little things, every single day.

So, Is the Weekend Dead? Not Quite.

The weekend isn’t gone—it’s just not limited to Saturday and Sunday anymore. The way we experience leisure, shopping, and entertainment has evolved, making every day an opportunity to create memories.

At Razorpay POS, we see this transformation reflected in payments across industries. Businesses are adapting, and consumers are embracing a lifestyle that celebrates life on their own terms.
