INDIA, New Delhi \u2013 20th February 2026:<\/b> Razorpay<\/b><\/a> and <\/span>National Payments Corporation of India (<\/b>NPCI<\/b><\/a>)<\/b> have now made it possible to shop with AI by bringing Agentic Payments to Claude.<\/span> Unveiled at the India AI Impact Summit, the platform is in the pilot phase with a small group of users. <\/b>The offering will allow<\/span> people to order food, groceries, and everyday essentials from <\/span>Zomato<\/b>, <\/span>Swiggy<\/b>, and <\/span>Zepto<\/b> – all without leaving the conversation.<\/span><\/p>\n

AI assistants are increasingly shaping how people discover and compare products. This platform, built on Claude, integrates a crucial element of payments directly into the agentic experience, enabling Claude to securely complete transactions on a user\u2019s behalf <\/span>– so payment happens seamlessly within the conversation.<\/b> A demonstration of the offering was showcased at the AI Impact Summit.<\/span><\/p>\n

This new experience simplifies the entire journey, <\/b>allowing users to ask <\/span>\u201cWhat should I order?\u201d<\/span><\/i> to Claude, confirming <\/span>\u201cIt\u2019s on the way\u201d<\/span><\/i> within a single, uninterrupted conversation. <\/span>It avoids the need for app switching or repeated payment approvals, while also reducing interruptions in the checkout process, and is supported by UPI Reserve Pay.<\/b> By embedding payments directly into AI-led journeys, it introduces a new way for everyday commerce to take place across high-frequency categories like food, grocery, and quick delivery.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This partnership brings together <\/span>Razorpay\u2019s Agentic Payments, NPCI\u2019s UPI infrastructure, and Claude\u2019s conversational intelligence to unlock a new model of AI-native commerce.<\/b> Backed by UPI Reserve Pay, users can approve a single spending limit for a merchant and then make multiple secure purchases without repeated PIN prompts, while <\/span>retaining full contro<\/b>l through real-time visibility, flexible limits, and instant consent revocation. It offers a simple and secure way to pay, with features that support transparency and user control.<\/span><\/p>\n

For example, a user can go to Claude and order food from Zomato <\/b>by simply saying,<\/span> \u201cI am craving for a mid-evening samosa & chai. Can you order this for me & my team from my favourite restaurant at my office?\u201d<\/span><\/i> The AI agent checks the options on <\/span>Zomato<\/b>, presents the same, and, with a single confirmation, places the order through Razorpay\u2019s UPI-powered Agentic Payments on Reserve Pay, all without breaking the conversation. AI doesn\u2019t just execute commands; it understands intent and context.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Another instance, a user can ask Claude, \u201cOrder dinner for two under \u20b91000 from a highly rated restaurant. I\u2019m craving Italian food today\u201d. The AI agent can identify the best Italian options on <\/span>Swiggy<\/b> and also factor in past preferences, whether that\u2019s pasta, pizza, or ravioli, and add items to the cart and place an order on the user\u2019s behalf. The same conversational flow extends to grocery and quick-commerce orders on <\/span>Zepto<\/b>, making everyday decisions actionable with AI. A user can simply say, <\/span>\u201cOrder a Diet Coke and my favourite Lays chips from Zepto before the World Cup match starts,\u201d<\/span><\/i> and the AI agent takes care of the rest from discovery to checkout, turning everyday decisions into instant action.<\/span><\/p>\n

India is well\u2011positioned to support this transition. With UPI\u2019s real-time, mandate-enabled payments foundation, the country has the technical and regulatory rails required for AI agents to transact on behalf of users in a secure, consent-driven manner. Combined with <\/span>India\u2019s high-frequency digital habits, especially in food and grocery, this creates the ideal environment for agent-led commerce to scale quickly and responsibly. <\/b>Together, this <\/span>makes India one of the few markets globally <\/b>where AI, payments, and consumer trust are aligned at a population scale, allowing agentic commerce to become a reality.<\/span><\/p>\n
