Razorpay Newsletter

Hi,

We announced webhooks in our last newsletter and also gave a sneak peak of our new Checkout design. It has since changed a lot and we now have a way to let you test it out too.

Apart from these, we also have updates on wallets, API changes and events. At Razorpay, we are always up for feedback. So feel free to write to us anytime!

Updates

The Checkout Story

Some time back we announced that we are in the process of updating our Checkout design. Today, we are releasing it in beta for you to have a look at and test. The demo is available at razorpay.com/demo, and the documentation for testing it out is here. By next week, we will be rolling out the update to all our merchants using checkout.js.

In case of any issue with the new version, please write to us at integrations@razorpay.com

Announcing PayUmoney Wallet on Razorpay

We have had PayUmoney wallet in beta with few merchants and we will be rolling it out to everyone by next week. If you'd like to get involved in the beta, simply reply to this mail. As always, the update will be automatic, without requiring any change in code on your end, if you are using checkout.js. You can check out the demo here.

Payments API Change in Notes Behaviour

As our first (minor) breaking change to the API, we are changing the behaviour of the API for an empty notes field. Previously, the API used to return an empty array [] for a payment entity with no notes. We will be changing this an empty object on the 3rd of May. All our SDKs will be unaffected, but if you are using your own integration, take a look at our post on the same.

iOS SDK is now on CocoaPod

The iOS developer community heavily relies on CocoaPods for dependency management. Hence, from now onwards, we will be maintaining a Pod for our iOS SDK. For more details check the link here.

Retry and Failure Change for Webhooks

Some of our merchants got back to us, requesting for a change in how Webhooks auto deactivation works. Now, webhooks will only be deactivated if there has been no successful call to your webhook URL in the last 24 hours, compared to the earlier setting when we were deactivating after 3 consecutive failures.

Orders and Refunds API now support Notes

While creating a refund or an order entity, you can also pass an array of notes, which has the same form and restrictions as notes on the payment entity. You can use them to keep track of refund reasons, or order specific information, for example. You can find more details at our post on the same.

Open Sourcing IFSC API

We recently launched an IFSC code API for businesses dealing with banking codes in India. We have open sourced the dataset as well as the API codebase on GitHub. The API lets you query and validate IFSC codes very easily. You can find more details here.

Other Updates

We have exposed a UTR field for settlements in our dashboard. You can get the status of any settlement by handing this to your bank. Moreover, we have improved support for the resellers on our platform. Drop us a mail if you’d like to sign up as one.

This is a free webinar by Razorpay and Zefo on May 6th at 3:00 pm. You can register for it here.

Notes Search

Most of our merchants depend on the notes field for connecting a payment to an order on their end, and for any other additional data related to it. So far we have been displaying notes in our dashboard and making it available through our API. We will soon also be releasing an intuitive search on notes in our dashboard. We also have long-term plans for an exhaustive search API as well in the pipeline. Keep and eye on this space for more updates.

That's all, folks!
