In 2019, after nearly two decades in the corporate world, Pratish decided to take a leap of faith. What began as a 6-month sabbatical soon turned into a full-fledged passion project—Slow Moto Tours. Based in Kerala, the company offers thoughtfully curated motorcycle tours across India, giving international travellers a chance to truly experience India, not just see it.
The idea was simple yet powerful: ride slow, observe more, soak in the beauty of India—its chaos, colours, and calm. Along the way, Pratish met Jo, an Austrian rider who was instantly drawn to the concept. Together, they co-founded Slow Moto Tours with a mission to offer immersive riding experiences to bikers from across the globe. But turning this vision into a viable business wasn’t without its roadblocks.
Hitting Bureaucratic Speed Bumps
As a bootstrapped startup catering to international clients, Slow Moto Tours needed more than just a current account—they needed trust.
Setting up a company account proved to be a long and tedious process. With Jo being a German citizen working in Austria, Indian banks were reluctant or slow to process documentation. Paperwork dragged on for over two years, constantly delaying their launch plans.
And while they never asked customers to pay into a personal account, Pratish was concerned about how a mismatch in account names could affect trust, especially for high-value international transfers. That lingering doubt was reason enough to seek a secure and reliable solution that could handle global payments professionally.
Trust at Every Turn—with Razorpay Handling the Back End
Though the road to incorporation was filled with paperwork delays, one thing that remained steady was their payment setup with Razorpay.
Already familiar with Razorpay through his cousin’s digital marketing business—and seeing the brand on most Indian websites—Pratish trusted it from day one. Even with a foreign co-founder, onboarding was smooth. Razorpay’s team guided them through the documentation, addressed Jo’s queries, and made sure everything was in place quickly.
With credit cards enabled on their website and RazorpayX simplifying payouts, they were set up to accept payments from across the globe, without worrying about geography or complexity.
More importantly, Razorpay’s Money Saver Export Account made a big difference. It allowed clients to pay via local bank transfers, reducing friction and saving money on unnecessary currency conversions, especially for larger advances.
From Open Roads to Open Markets
Since adopting Razorpay, Slow Moto Tours has completed four successful tours, with eight more lined up for the season. Clients from Germany, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK can now pay securely and confidently, without second-guessing the process.
Thanks to Razorpay’s automatic FIRC documentation, the backend is fully compliant, leaving Pratish and Jo free to focus on crafting unforgettable riding experiences. What once felt like a constant hurdle has now become a smooth ride.
Razorpay came in at the right time. If not for this setup, we’re not sure how far we could have gone. Now everything is sorted, and we don’t have to worry at all.
Slow Rides, Fast Payments: A Partnership Built for the Long Haul
For Slow Moto Tours, riding slow is about absorbing the journey, not rushing through it. But when it came to setting up their business for global reach, they needed a fast, reliable, and trusted payment partner. And, Razorpay delivered exactly that.
Today, whether it’s a 14-day ride from Cochin to Goa or a casual cruise within Kerala, Slow Moto Tours is helping riders rediscover India—one slow mile at a time. And behind the scenes, Razorpay is quietly powering their growth across borders.
