For years, digital commerce inside apps followed a familiar pattern: you opened an app, searched for something specific, scrolled through results, selected a product, added it to your cart, and checked out. Every app optimised this journey by offering faster search, cleaner product pages, and smoother checkout.

But the overall journey itself stayed the same.

What’s changing is how people interact with technology. Instead of navigating menus and making decisions along the way, users increasingly start with intent. They say what they want and expect the system to figure out the rest.

“It’s really hot, get me something cold to drink.”

“Find me a high-protein meal that can reach in 30 minutes.”

“Book the next movie show near me.”

AI can understand these requests, interpret context, filter options, and make recommendations. And as users grow comfortable with conversational interfaces in platforms like ChatGPT, they begin to expect the same experience everywhere, including inside the apps they already use every day.

This shift is what’s driving agentic commerce inside owned apps and websites. And when discovery becomes conversational, payments need to keep up.

Razorpay’s Agentic Payments stack for in-app is designed to support this shift by making payments a natural part of the interaction.

Bringing Agentic Commerce to Life

This FTX 2026, we partnered with Zomato, PVR INOX, Vodafone Idea, Bluestone, Honasa (The Derma Co) to pilot agentic interactions on their app and website, respectively.

Instead of browsing through restaurant lists and menus, users can simply express what they’re looking for, such as, “I want a high-protein meal that can reach within 30 minutes.” The in-app agent interprets the request, identifies suitable dishes across restaurants, and recommends a shortlist. Once the user confirms the selection, the payment is completed instantly with UPI Reserve Pay, the truly agentic way to pay.

The result is a much simpler journey. The user doesn’t need to search, compare multiple restaurant pages, or manually build a cart. The intent is understood, the options are curated, and the purchase happens without redirections to UPI Apps.

At GFF 2025, we piloted our first in-app agentic experience on the Vodafone Idea app. The in-app AI understood the user’s usual recharge pattern, recommended the most relevant plan, and completed the payment seamlessly within the same flow.

These early pilots are helping define what agentic commerce can look like for India’s enterprise businesses. They show, in practical terms, how intelligent experiences and seamless payments can come together to simplify journeys that were once multi-step and manual.

Partner with us to Build the Next Generation of App Experiences

Agentic commerce doesn’t mean replacing your app or website. It means rethinking how people interact with them.

While most apps today are built around navigation menus, filters, and multiple steps to complete simple tasks. But if you look closely at your user journeys, you’ll find repeat behaviours and predictable actions. Whether it is reordering the same products, searching within a fixed budget, looking for options that meet dietary or time constraints, or booking the same type of service again, these actions are often repetitive.

These routine moments are exactly where conversational experiences make the biggest difference.

If you’re thinking about how AI could reshape interactions inside your app or website, we’d love to build it with you.

Because the next generation of commerce will start with a simple conversation, so, let’s o, chat and start one today!
