Integration will let Indian users to pay in rupees while allowing developers to monetise AI-built apps with UPI and cards
India is emerging as a global hotspot for AI-built software, with developers shipping products faster than ever. As this AI-driven economy takes shape, the next critical challenge for global AI platforms is two-fold: monetising their India user base, and helping their users monetise the apps they build. Supporting this shift, Razorpay and Replit today announced a partnership to help AI-first builders in India not only pay for their subscriptions seamlessly but also turn their ideas into scalable, monetised products.
That opportunity is underpinned by India’s unique digital payments scale. The country already processes over 20 billion UPI transactions every month, and UPI accounts for around 85% of all digital payments, alongside billions more in card transactions, making India one of the world’s advanced real-time payment markets. By integrating Replit’s AI software creation platform with Razorpay’s payments infrastructure, the partnership allows AI-built products to accept UPI from day one. So what gets built can be adopted, paid for, and scaled instantly across India.
Rolling out in beta, Replit will go live with Razorpay’s International Payments Suite, allowing Indian users to pay in INR via familiar methods like UPI and cards. This will effectively strive to transform a global, cross-border subscription into a local payments experience for Indian customers. At the same time, Razorpay’s payment stack will be embedded into the Replit platform, enabling the Replit agent to serve and monetise Indian users. Razorpay will handle compliance, FX, and USD settlements behind the scenes, allowing Replit to monetise Indian users without setting up a local entity.
For example, a builder on Replit can prompt: “Create an AI-powered personal finance assistant that tracks expenses and investments.” Replit generates the full application, with Razorpay’s monetization layer embedded directly into the agent build flow. This will enable application builders to start accepting UPI and card payments from Indian users, turning a prototype into a live business in minutes.
Commenting on the partnership, Harshil Mathur, CEO & Co-Founder, Razorpay, said, “AI isn’t just another tech wave – it’s changing how products are built and how businesses come to life. In India, that shift is happening right now, but monetisation is often the missing piece. At Razorpay, our focus is on building the infrastructure that lets innovation turn into real businesses. We’re excited to partner with Replit, whose AI-first platform is redefining how quickly ideas can become products. With Replit, we’re bringing monetisation directly into the creation process – so that builders can go from an idea to a paid product, instantly and compliantly. At the end of the day, it’s about giving AI-first builders the speed and confidence to start building for India from day one – without worry about payments.”
Amjad Masad, CEO & Founder, Replit, said, “India has rapidly become one of the most important markets for Replit. It’s now our second-largest country in terms of number of builders, and we’re seeing incredible momentum from Indian builders adopting Replit Agent to launch microbusinesses at remarkable speed. What’s especially exciting is how quickly these builders are moving from experimentation to monetisation.
As we expand in India, it’s critical that our platform reflects the realities of the local market. We believe in working with skilled partners who bring deep regional expertise and infrastructure, and Razorpay’s leadership in India’s payments ecosystem makes them a natural partner for this next phase of growth. Together, we’re making it easier for builders in India to go from idea to income in minutes.”
Building on recent collaborations with global AI companies, including work with OpenAI and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to pioneer agentic AI payments, Razorpay strives to expand how AI platforms unlock real economic value. The partnership with Replit extends this vision by embedding Razorpay’s India-ready payments and compliance stack directly into AI-driven software creation, empowering ideas to become scalable from day one.
